John Sturrock QC, founder and chief executive of Core Solutions Group, has been appointed to the honorary position of Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh. He will be associated with the School of Social and Political Science and particularly with the Academy of Government.
While his primary focus remains on leading Core and his mediation and coaching work, in this part-time role John Sturrock will seek to take forward some of the projects he recently proposed in his annual Academy of Government lecture, and which were the subject of his submission to the Independent Commission on Parliamentary Reform at the Scottish Parliament.
John Sturrock said: “This is a great honour. To be invited to work with my alma mater in this capacity is a significant opportunity to give some momentum to a number of initiatives which have grown out of my recent work within politics and public policy. These are all founded on the same ideas we employ in mediation in commercial disputes: namely, finding means to move away from sub-optimal, adversarial, binary positions and deal with differences and difficult issues in more constructive and creative ways".
