Kenneth Cloke Workshop

On 20 November we will be holding an exclusive workshop with Kenneth Cloke, author of The Dance of Opposites and Mediating Dangerously.

Ken is a good friend of Core’s and his previous workshops in Scotland have been very well received. He is one of the world’s leading thinkers and writers in the field of conflict resolution. At this time, his writing and thinking about how we can work collaboratively is vital, in business, for clients, in our communities, in politics and in the wider world.

The workshop will be held in Edinburgh from 10.00am to 4.00pm, at Grassmarket Centre, 86 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh, EH1 2QA. The registration fee includes all papers and refreshments.

We are also offering a free signed copy of Ken’s latest masterful book The Dance of Opposites: Explorations in Mediation, Dialogue and Conflict Resolution Systems to the first 20 full paying registrants.

Topics will include:

  • The language and narrative structure of conflict
  • Psychology and neurophysiology in conflict
  • Political and other difficult or controversial dialogue
  • Chronic organisational conflict
  • The role of mediation and mediators – reflection and action

Ken Cloke’s latest book, The Dance of Opposites: Explorations in Mediation, Dialogue and Conflict Resolution System Design, explores a new vision for conflict resolution. Looking at social, political, and environmental conflicts, Cloke offers suggestions on how to organize and conduct dialogues over difficult, dangerous and controversial issues. Along with identifying new ways of designing conflict resolutions systems for families and chronic organisational conflicts, he investigates dialectical philosophy, movements for social change, and theories of justice. The Dance of Opposites encourages us to use conflict to learn, become better human beings and create opportunities for improvement.

Kenneth Cloke is Director of the Centre for Dispute Resolution and a mediator, arbitrator, attorney, coach, consultant, and trainer. He is an internationally recognised speaker and author of numerous books.
